"Cousteau" Tea Pot Cozy

It looks like a diving helmet... we thought... hence 'Cousteau' after Jacques Cousteau, a famous Oceanographer!

Dark grey and sage continues to be the colour combination that dominates my mind. I can never get tired of it... it is calming and yet thought provoking....

This was just a quick project that came out of need. I bought this gorgeous tea pot a while ago that is a little bit skewed and as it was unlikely that I was going to find a tea pot cozy to match it... decided on one of my favorite, free lance knitting... measure-knit, measure-knit... and it worked!

It is a tight fit and it has crocheted edges to give it more definition and add interest.

As you know, all my creations have to have in their content at least one feature that is giant, so this time around- a giant pom pom, so woolly and soft under your hand.

Knitted using a set of round needles and a crochet hook.

I am currently away from hot and sunny Australia, enjoying snow white, idyllic Banja Luka, spending some good quality time with my dear Mum & Dad. I am very much enjoying the snow... haven't seen it nor walked in it for 9 years... so it is a real thrill to be here...

What can be a better treat in the winter cold days, but a hot cup of tea with some honey and lemon! I made this cozy for my dear Mum & Dad and we had our inaugural pot of tea yesterday. In the spirit of this special occasion, we decided to go for a special flavor, an 'apple & cinnamon' tea. If you add some 'fresh high mountain herbs' honey accompanied with some freshly cut lemon, you have yourself a delicious treat indeed...

Tea Pot Cozy that comes with Christmas Season

Christmas is just around the corner... Festive, festive, festive!!!

This tea pot cozy is made of left over wool from the projects I worked on earlier in this year. I wanted to create a cozy that incorporates the giant knit that I am so in love with. I also wanted to learn a double cable knit... it looks so fantastic and rich on throws so I thought I'd start small and try make one on the tea pot cozy.

Here it is, my double cable knit... looking so stunning... don't you think? Only, next time I think I might try and go for a lighter colour because it seems to get lost in the dark wool knit. 

Here is my tea pot cozy photoed from the front. I thought that adding a silky ribbon would make it more festive, I guess I am all in the Christmas Season, feeling a bit festive and luxurious. I think that it would make any morning tea or brunch even more special. Pom pom at the top is there to accessorize but also to keep the tea super warm. 

Tea Pot and Cup Cozy

I guess any passionate knitter would be delighted to browse through ' Really Wild Tea Cozies' by Loani Prior, the queen of the tea pot cozies.  I came across this book in a shop about 6 months ago and could not put it back on the shelf- unless it was on my own shelf! Finally, I found some time to play with different designs and patterns and decided to knit a tea pot cozy with a matching cup cozy. This is my latest creation and I absolutely love it!

Making this tea pot cozy was quite an experience. It felt like I was preparing a daughter for the Prom. This tea pot cozy has a lining underneath as well as padding at the top to shape it like a box. I am obsessed with the bobbles at the moment, so of course part of the design needed to show this.

If you have browsed through my blog, you would know that I really like the cup cozies too, so for this cube-looking tea pot cozy, I needed to make a matching cup cozy. The pattern on this cup cozy is called the 'diagonal garter stitch' and it is a wonderful pattern if you like to use a variety of colours because it accentuates the colours in the most beautiful way.

Here is another one of my old designs. This is actually the one and only tea pot cozy that I ever knitted. However, as a part of a 'Sunchi B' Knit & Purl, there will be a range of 'cup' and 'tea pot' cozies. I am hoping to develop a range of designs... :)
